Do you ever wonder how to improve your holiday get-togethers? Let us show you the way.

When hosting a meal, focus on how you present the food. Presentation is an excellent way to convey your care to the guests.

Communicate With Your Food Spreads
Top Shelf Concepts explains, “Food presentation acts as a form of communication between a chef and guests, conveying a message of care, attention to detail, and culinary expertise.”

You want guests to eat your food, and food presentation helps to stimulate appetites. When people see a visually appealing dish, their brains interpret it as desirable. So, ensure your food isn't overlooked because of its underwhelming appearance.

Take From These Tips!
So, when it comes to the art of entertaining through presentation, here are ideas curated for the holidays:
  • Choose a color scheme and a theme. Feel free to stray away from the traditional red and green! Maximalism and jewel tones are trending, including deep orange, emerald green, and sapphire blue.

  • Use thoughtful details like personalized packaging, unique decor, and statement pieces.

  • Artistically arrange your food, considering balance, color, and harmony. Sonsie advises, “Vibrant hues can create a sense of freshness and excitement, while muted tones convey elegance and sophistication.”

  • Add fragrance and beauty with organic elements, such as carnations, peonies, and amaryllis.

  • Allow Martha Stuart to inspire you. Here are some holiday table decorations that she tried:
    1. Linens folded into Christmas tree-shaped napkins
    2. Festive tablecloths
    3. Crimson and silver table settings
    4. Felt holly leaves with jingle bells to put on the plates
    5. A glittery bowl of faux lemons served with lemon drop candies
    6. A leaf motif for the table settings
    7. Metallic table settings and candle holders

  • Number your place settings, and let your guests pick a number. That way, thinking about where to sit won't be a hassle. Then, you can place another number under the place settings, and that can indicate where everyone will sit for dessert, encouraging everyone to mingle throughout the night.

The Benefits of Branded Products
78% of consumers believe that brand logos are a work of art.

What's great about giving out branded products is that you can sell them or give them out for free, and either way, you'll expose your logo. Furthermore, ordering your products in bulk is budget-friendly and can lead to an excellent return on investment. Many customers will carry these items wherever they go, so everyone they encounter will see your logo as well.

Branded products or gifts provide long-lasting advertising, as consumers tend to keep these items for a long time. Additionally, it's common for recipients of branded products to post them on social media, which increases your social media presence without you having to do the work! The social media posts could create a sense of FOMO that makes other people want to experience your business and possess your products.

So, call Division 9 Laser Design at 616-935-2121 or fill out a quote form to start the conversation. Branded products are one of our specialties, and we can help your target audience see your logo at every opportunity. What would your logo look good on?

The Complete Guide To Charcuterie Boards

Click the on the images to enlarge.

This is what we love about charcuterie boards: all the different styles they come in, the ways to use them, and the appeal to party guests! You can't go wrong whether you give a personalized one as a wedding gift or custom design one for your own party entertainment. If you want to learn various spreads for a charcuterie board, this is the guide for you.

At Division 9 Laser Design, we engrave all types of charcuterie boards and can make them out of Whiskey Barrel Lids. We also make them out of exotic hardwood and epoxy in all different shapes and sizes. We'll use the color of your choice for the epoxy, and we can add glitter, seashells, pebbles, small stones, fishing hooks, bullets, and any embellishments you want. Furthermore, customize the wood with a monogram, last name, wedding date, or anything else you desire.

Why Charcuterie Boards Are Worth Their Salt
Here's an idea: Custom charcuterie boards make for excellent wedding gifts. The couple will use their board many times throughout the years, as it's a functional statement decor piece.

Charcuterie boards are popular for entertainment because of DIY culture, visual aesthetics, and all the themes you can use.

All About The Various Charcuterie Board Spreads
So, what food should you put on your charcuterie board? It depends on the theme you're going for, and we'll get to that. Let's start with the 3 3 3 3 Rule: You should include at least three each of meats, cheeses, starches, and accompaniments.

Additionally, you should try to balance sweet and savory snacks.

The most important part of a classic charcuterie board is deli meats. Some common but tasty ones are prosciutto, mortadella, capocollo, Spanish chorizo, soppressata, and salami.

Trendy vegetables include peppers, carrots, celery, and radishes. Pickle your vegetables a few days ahead if you want a fancier spread. When pickled, carrots, tomatoes, okra, green beans, and peppers are particularly delicious.

For a crunchier vegetable selection, try
  • Purple carrots
  • Watermelon beets
  • English peas
  • Romanesco broccoli
  • Cornichons
  • Include a minty, lemony white bean dip.

To impress your guests, include the following cheeses:
  • A hard cheese, like the Beemster X.O. Aged Gouda, which has a mild, nutty taste
  • A traditional cheese, like cheddar
  • A flavorful goat cheese, such as Cypress Grove's Humboldt Fog Cheese, which is creamy on the outside with a crumbly texture on the inside
  • A soft cheese, like triple creme brie

Additionally, you'll want a fresh loaf of bread with two or three types of crackers. Here are a few options to consider:
  • Buttercream crackers
  • Raincoast rosemary raisin crackers, which are sweeter than most
  • Rustic Bakery Flatbread crackers. They're lightly salted sourdough crackers that can scoop cheese without crumbling.

Pimento cheese and rillettes are ideal cracker toppings. You could also include Italian breadsticks for dipping. Additionally, with their mild, buttery flavor, Castelvetrano olives go well with cheese, crackers, and all kinds of meats.

Adding a couple of bunches of grapes adds beauty and flavor to your spread. You could choose Canadice, muscadine, moondrop, and Concord varieties.

For a few days, try marinating sliced mushrooms in vinegar, oil, herbs, and maple syrup.

19 Charcuterie Themes To Try
Feed your guests with a theme that goes along with the occasion. Check out these delicious examples:
  1. Picnic food. The food items resemble the classic “meat, cheese, and veggies” selection, but a picnic board makes for an excellent date! Ensure variety; include starch, nuts, cheese, dessert, a vegetable, condiments, and even potato chips.
  2. Build your own pizza. All you have to do is arrange various pizza toppings, sauces, and bread with melted cheese in an aesthetically pleasing manner.
  3. Build your own taco. This is precisely what it sounds like!
  4. After-school snacks. What were all of your favorite snacks as a child? Welcome your kids with a board full of goldfish, animal crackers, Ritz crackers, Annie's gummies, Cheez-its, etc.
  5. Pretzels around the world. Different nations serve their pretzels in various ways. So, research diverse ways of making pretzels. You could serve them with Wasabi, schnitzel, and more.
  6. A box of chocolates. If your charcuterie board has compartments, fill each one with a different kind of chocolate.
  7. Vegan. You could include vegan cheese, legumes, hummus, jam, honey, pickled vegetables, and olive oil with dill and parsley.
  8. Seafood. Cocktail shrimp and small bites of fried haddock are perfect for this theme!
  9. Spanish tapas. Grill heirloom pan con tomate, add a side of patatas bravas and include olives and aioli.
  10. Hollywood VIP. You'll want Ritz-y food products, escargot, and chocolate-covered strawberries. You can even sprinkle edible glitter on the board!
  11. Hot chocolate. There are many ways to spice up a hot chocolate. Set up mini marshmallows in a dish, chocolate sauce, caramel, maple syrup, peppermint, and any other flavors you want to try.
  12. Travel-inspired. Round up snacks from all your favorite food cultures, like goat cheese, egg rolls, Belgian waffles, Irish whiskey, and pierogies.
  13. Chicken wings. Cook wings in different marinades ahead of time, put a few sauces on the board, and appropriate sides, like broccoli, cauliflower, or carrots.
  14. S'mores. Of course, you'll want marshmallows, crackers, hard and melted chocolate.
  15. Fried potatoes. Include all your favorite variations of fried potatoes, like fries, tater tots, and chips.
  16. Fair food. Think of all of your favorite snacks at the fair. You can set out mini caramel apples, apple slices with caramel dip and sprinkles, and fried dough or Oreos.
  17. Kids party. I'm sure you know what kids love. Serve sweet and savory party snacks. You could have popcorn, candy, and ice cream with toppings.
  18. Seasonal. Come up with foods that match the season you're in. For example, you could serve cookies with icing in the Winter. In Spring, you can use flowers for garnish.
  19. Breakfast/brunch. Serve bacon, eggs, and steak on your board with mimosas on the side.

Receive Better Marketing Results With Promotional Gifting
Why is no one talking about promotional gifting? There are plenty of opportunities for business owners to use this strategy: seasonal holidays, upon gaining clients, when you want to boost company morale, and more! Furthermore, it's an ideal way to attract customers and encourage brand loyalty.

The Strategy Behind Branded Gifts
There are various ways that promotional gifting can boost profits. For example, the average American recipient will keep the gift for eight months and re-gift it to somebody else. These products provide exposure in daily life with longevity that surpasses digital advertisements.

There are additional ways that utilizing branded gifts works as an effective marketing strategy:
  • When someone sees the gift, they may ask about it. Then, the recipient may share their experience with the business owner who gifted it.
  • Giving a gift to a consumer provides them with a sense of brand loyalty, so they may feel inclined to repeat business.
  • Giving a gift to a consumer provides a connection that makes you memorable.
  • You can take these products and turn your staff into brand ambassadors.
  • You may use the gifts as incentives or giveaways to generate leads.
  • Listen to your client for personal insights or signals, and you can personalize their gift to make it especially memorable and thank them for doing business with you.
  • You may use seasonal holidays to make your marketing strategy relevant.

A Successful Marketing Industry
Promotional gifts may be more affordable than other forms of advertising, and they generate a high return on investment. Let's look at the facts:
  • According to studies, branded gifts yield an average of 1,000 monthly impressions. Now just think what that means when you give a well-liked, durable, usable gift... you repeat that cycle month after month!
  • The promotional giveaway industry is the seventh-largest marketing industry in the U.S.
  • The industry reached $21.3 billion in sales and has experienced a five-year growth rate of 15.1%.

We laser engrave various customizable products at Division 9 Laser Design. A few examples perfect for promotional gifts are thermal tumblers, cutting boards, and leather or slate coasters with your logo etched on them. The Complete Guide to Choosing Gifts for Your Wedding Party

gift ideas for wedding party
So, your wedding ceremony approaches, and you still don't know what to give your wedding party as a thank you? After everything your bridesmaids and groomsmen have done for you, you want to express gratitude perfectly. Luckily, we've compiled this guide to choosing presents for your beloved friends.

Nine Tips When It Comes to Choosing Gifts
It’s essential to thank your wedding party for the time, effort, and money spent on wedding-related events. So, here are some pointers to consider around giving them something special.

  1. According to A Saratoga Wedding, most sources agree you should spend $75-150 on each wedding party member. Keep in mind that this is a suggestion, NOT a rule.
  2. Consider how much an individual has traveled to help you when contemplating the pricing of their present.
  3. It's common to give all bridesmaids and groomsmen the same thing but remember, your flower girl will require something age-appropriate.
  4. If you have a small wedding party, you may be able to spend more on each gift. If you have a large party, you might want to go cheaper.
  5. Keep your wedding budget in mind. Don't spend more money than you're comfortable with, and your wedding party will likely understand.
  6. Giving affordable personalized gifts have far more value than an expensive trinket.
  7. Whether you're the bride or the groom, you may want to upgrade the Maid of Honor or Best Man's gift. Additionally, some couples find it meaningful to spend one-on-one time with their two special friends when they give them their present.
  8. As for the rest of the gifts, we believe that you should present them whenever it feels right for you. Although, many couples opt to give out presents at the rehearsal dinner.
  9. There are alternatives to purchasing gifts: You could cover wedding expenses, like attire, or write thoughtful thank you cards. If you can afford it, you may want to do both!

All You Need To Know About Glass Etching

10/10/2023

Glass etching by Division 9 Laser Design
Glass etching is a process that takes the ordinary to the extraordinary. Glass items become more than functional, a piece of art to look at. Based in Saugatuck, MI, Division 9 Laser Design makes decorative glass for clients with lasers.

What We Offer
We design decorative glass in the form of mirrors, windows, signs, bourbon bottles, liquor bottles, highball glasses, champagne glasses, and vases. These products make for an intimate, meaningful gift. Additionally, we sell to manufacturers and local businesses to resell as merchandise!
enbraved glass wedding sign
How Glass Etching Usually Works
Glass etching works with chemicals or abrasives. Most artists use hydrofluoric acid or ammonium bifluoride to reduce sodium, calcium, and aluminum atoms at the glass surface. One way is to boil glass in 30% Hydrochloric acid solution for 30 minutes before starting.

With chemical etching, artists put a Ti-Au bilayer on the glass. To control the angle of facets, they can adjust the thickness of the Ti-Au bilayer. Sometimes, they will use a jewel cutter or something similar to cut the glass.
All About Laser Etching
A more modern and environmentally friendly approach to glass etching is laser etching. That is what we do. The computer-controlled method produces minimal waste and is consistent with the design.

Glass is made up of silicon and metal. When a CO2 laser hits the glass, the air and moisture between the silica expands until the glass breaks. It's a fast technique compared to other abrasives.

To make facets in the glass, we use a cooling mist after the laser, which breaks the glass down further.

Would you like to order decorative glass? Call Division 9 Laser Design at 616-935-2121 or fill out our contact form for a consultation.

All it takes is creativity in design, glass, a computer, and a laser beam for a scientific miracle to happen!
